What we collect
We only collect what you give us directly. If you send a message through our contact form, we store your name, email address, chosen subject, and the message itself. We do not run a newsletter and there is nothing else to sign up for.
We also record the IP address the request came from and the time it was sent. We use this only to block spam and abuse.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which stories people read and which countries they read from. Analytics cookies stay switched off until you accept them in the cookie banner — until then Google receives only anonymous, cookieless signals.
We store one small item in your browser to remember your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear on every page. We do not run advertising cookies and we do not use tracking pixels from social networks.
How we use your data
Messages are used to reply to you and to correct our articles when you point out a mistake. We do not use your address for anything else.
We do not sell your data and we do not share your information with advertisers.
Third parties
Google Analytics processes site usage data on our behalf. Photographs on this site may be served directly from Wikimedia Commons, Pexels, or Unsplash, which means your browser contacts those services when a page loads. Fonts are served by Google Fonts.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, and we have no control over the data they collect on their own systems.
How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept as long as they are useful for editorial follow-up, and are deleted when they are not.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will act on the request. If you are in the EU or UK, these rights come from the GDPR; if you are in Thailand, they come from the PDPA.
